Floods class action more likely
The Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry today handed down it's Final Report into the January 2011 Queensland floods.
Shortly after the report was released, Maurice Blackburn held a media conference where Principal Rod Hodgson (pictured centre, with flood victim David Carney, left, and Ipswich Councillor Paul Tully) addressed the inquiry report, it's impact on Maurice Blackburn's potential class action, and the next steps the firm is taking, which include the commissioning of an independent hydrologist's report.
Rod said that while a class action was not a certainty at this time, the inquiry's report clearly assists a class action, and if it proceeds, it is likely to be the largest class action Australia has ever seen.
